Coverage Optimizer

Add up to 6 Pokémon, pick each one's 4 moves, and set its boosts, weather, terrain, helping hand and item. The tool ranks every other legal move by how much new OHKO/2HKO reach it adds — for that Pokémon and for the team — over the entire legal roster, weighted by usage. Switch Reg M-A (ladder usage) ↔ M-B (replay usage). Damage is 1:1 with in-game mechanics.
Add a Pokémon above to start optimizing coverage.

About the Coverage Optimizer

The Coverage Optimizer helps you close the gaps in a team's offense. You pick up to six Pokémon and the moves they already run, and the tool finds the single best coverage move to add — both per Pokémon and across the whole team — ranked by how much of the current metagame that move brings into knockout range. The goal is to turn "what move should I put in the last slot?" from a guess into a measured decision.

How coverage is calculated

Damage here is not estimated — it is computed one-to-one with in-game mechanics: real base stats, natures, abilities, items, type effectiveness, and the same damage formula the games use. For each candidate move, the tool checks what share of the relevant field it would bring into OHKO (one-hit) or 2HKO (two-hit) range, weighted by how much each target actually appears in the current metagame. A move that cleanly knocks out a handful of rarely-seen Pokémon is worth less than one that reliably threatens a large slice of what you will actually face, and the ranking reflects that.

How to read the results

Per-Pokémon suggestions tell you the best coverage addition for one team member in isolation; the team-wide view shows which single move most improves your collective coverage, accounting for what the rest of the team already handles. The percentage attached to each option is the share of the meta it brings into KO range — a direct measure of how much new threat coverage you gain. Use it to compare options on the same scale rather than relying on intuition about which type "feels" like better coverage.

Frequently asked questions

What does "coverage" mean here? The set of opposing Pokémon your moves can threaten with a knockout. Better coverage means fewer common threats that wall your offense.

How is the damage computed? With a full, mechanics-accurate damage engine — the same stat, nature, item, ability, and type interactions the cartridge uses — not a rough multiplier or an approximation.

What spreads and items are assumed for targets? Targets are evaluated against representative builds drawn from current usage data, so the OHKO/2HKO calls reflect what the field is realistically running rather than a worst-case or best-case strawman.

How current is the meta used for weighting? The meta-share weighting tracks the live usage data as it refreshes, so coverage recommendations stay aligned with the format you are actually preparing for.
